BREAKING: Hours after a lawsuit was filed on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s effort to “pause” funding of current federal grants and loans.
After a short video hearing, she ordered an administrative stay of the Office of Management and Budget’s planned pause on open awards — which was set to go into effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday — until 5 p.m. Monday, February 3.
The order, issued from the bench, came minutes before the OMB directive was set to go into effect.
[Update: She later entered a written order. See link in comments.]
There will be briefing in the case this week, and a hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, February 3.
