BREAKING: A lawsuit was filed on Tuesday challenging President Donald Trump's executive order targeting gender-affirming medical care for transgender people under 19, as well as the funding ban in the January 20 executive order defining “sex” for the federal government.

With PFLAG, GLMA, and several transgender people under 19 and their parents as plaintiffs, the lawsuit is backed by representation from the ACLU, Lambda Legal, Jenner & Block, and Hogan Lovells.

The lawsuit was filed in federal district court in Maryland, and was initially assigned to U.S. District Judge Richard Bennett, a George W. Bush appointee. The case has since been reassigned to Judge Brendan Hurson, a Biden appointee. It is not clear the reason for the reassignment, but sometimes senior status judges choose not to take on big cases.
