Christians are not called to be a thoughtless people. We are not called to check our brains at the door every time a bandwagon comes along that appeals to our emotions.

We are to be a people who critically use our minds to evaluate whatever crosses our path.

The last several years have demonstrated that Christians, as much as anyone else, can fall prey to thoughtless emotionalism.

Critical Race Theory, conspiracy theories, ethnonationalism, and so much more have shown our propensity to jump on whatever train tantalizes our senses.

Christians are called to "test the spirits" (1 John 4:1), meaning we don't just accept things as they are presented to us.

Even the Bereans (Acts 17:10–12) were considered noble because they examined everything Paul taught against Scripture.

It is well past time that Christians reclaim critical thinking as part of our Christian walk. It is time to stop believing in every childish fairy tale presented to us just because it "sounds right."

Biblical literacy, critical thinking, holiness, and the desire to glorify God are not optional in the Christian life. They are the bare minimum requirements.
