FAWNING in FEMALE PHYSICIANS

  • The performatively pleasant persona … the threat response simply trying to keep us safe but ends up wearing us out and depleting out energy.

  • Here is a link I found that explains it beautifully ...apn.com/resources/fawni…

  • I think that just finding words for this phenomena and bringing it into your awareness will be the beginning of its unraveling.

  • If you are a female physician that feels EXHAUSTED at the end of the day in part becuase you’ve been playing the par too a Disney freaking Princess while diagnosing and treating complex medical and social dis-ease, you might be FAWNING…

    • If you HABITUALLY ignore your own needs to take care of someone else’s…

    • If you feel unseen, unheard, disappeared, or surreal-ly only semi present in your own life…

    • If you find saying NO nearly impossible…

    • If you feel responsible for other people’s emotions…

    • If you often fail to connect to and VOICE your own values…(or even know them)

    • If clear boundaries are not at all clear to you…

Then thinking about the possibility that you may be FAWNING as a chronic trauma response might be a useful exercise.

Love,

Chrissie
