I think that just finding words for this phenomena and bringing it into your awareness will be the beginning of its unraveling.
If you are a female physician that feels EXHAUSTED at the end of the day in part becuase you’ve been playing the par too a Disney freaking Princess while diagnosing and treating complex medical and social dis-ease, you might be FAWNING…
If you HABITUALLY ignore your own needs to take care of someone else’s…
If you feel unseen, unheard, disappeared, or surreal-ly only semi present in your own life…
If you find saying NO nearly impossible…
If you feel responsible for other people’s emotions…
If you often fail to connect to and VOICE your own values…(or even know them)
If clear boundaries are not at all clear to you…
Then thinking about the possibility that you may be FAWNING as a chronic trauma response might be a useful exercise.
