As a primary school teacher, I can tell you there is a REASON so many of us are women. It’s an undervalued, underpaid job. It’s women’s work to deal with children. People tell me all the time that my job is “cute”. I have a deep pedagogical knowledge of how the brain learns, and it’s not gendered. It varies from brain to brain. Most people think all I do is art projects and nap time. It’s so frustrating.

You will find more men in high school positions because it is a more respected position. And like you said, even more at the college level.
