Make money doing the work you believe in

When I was 14 I was chased by Vervet monkeys. That’s not something you hear every day, granted. 😆

Vervet monkeys are quite prevalent in Zimbabwe, where I grew up. Having a very outdoor-loving family, most free time was spent 4×4-ing into the most remote African bush where visits felt like safaris. At the time you take it for granted, then later realise what a privilege it was.

I was making my way back from the shower block in the campsite we were staying at. Please don’t think it was all picnic tables and amazing amenities. This was just a shower block in the middle of African bush and your 4×4 vehicle was your bedroom for the night. I kid you not but I was keeping an eye on the elephant nearby and walking quietly so as not to frighten them. Only to turn round to see a vervet monkey, walked a bit faster and before I knew it a pack had joined me and I was sprinting. They are cheeky and can be rabid and I had visions of one sinking its teeth into my ankles. I ran straight to my stepdad who had seen this unfold and grabbed a catipult and mock-aimed it at them. They scattered. Phew!
