I love Rick Rubin, I love The Creative Act, I love this bit about the tree, but the piece on Bach at the end made me gasp. Where are the women of the Bach family? I was stunned. All relegated to women’s work? Dozens upon dozens of men are mentioned - all members of this historically unparalleled musical family, and not one woman accomplished anything but helping with the food and the children? I’m stunned. When I finished the article, I couldn’t help but wonder how many of the musical masterpieces mentioned in this article might have been written by women! Women, writers, artists, what do you think? Our voices are so important, but so are our names!
