Mind mapping best practices: filters

Many mind mapping tools give you the ability to show or hide topics using filters and by applying different criteria to them.

While a filter is applied, those elements disappear from view. When it’s removed, they reappear in your mind map.

You can also use filters in the opposite way - to tell your app to only display topics that meet certain criteria.

This can come in useful if you want to isolate the tasks in your mind map, for example.

Filters are m a terrific way to manage the information overload that can happen when you’re working with a large, complex mind map.

It can also come in handy when you're giving a presentation and you don't want to show certain information to your audience.

Simply give the topics you want to hide a specific icon or symbol. Then set up a filter that tells your app not to display any topics that contain it. Simple!
