So often in the discourse on marriage and specifically household labor or the mental load, I hear a comment from a man along the lines of:
We aren’t mind readers! You need to clearly express expectations!
But I wonder. If I were living with other women, would this be the case? Would I have to explain what needed to be done in the kitchen, or what needed tidying, or where things should be put away? I don’t think so. Now again, some of this is how girls are raised versus how boys are raised. Some of us have higher standards than others on what constitutes clean. But my guess is, if I were to cohabitate with a woman, we would have that conversation once and then move on.
Tell me I’m wrong.
