If you’ve been following my case and reporting on New Normal Germany, you should also be following eugyppius, who is covering the roll-out of the new totalitarianism here. He leans to the right. I lean to the left. It does not matter. In the eyes of the New Normal authorities, we are both “Delegitimizers of the State.” And if you think this is a “Germany” story, think again. Germany is just the tip of the spear.

The pandemic appears to have broken something fundamental in German politics. Beginning with the Covid protests in 2021, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) took it upon themselves to define a new area of unconstitutional (and therefore potentially illegal) political agitation. This bears the cumbersome title of “Delegitimisation of the State,” and the concept has much in common with the DDR crime of state defamation.
