I expect lots of people to disagree with this. Which is fine. But I invite you to read it, take it in and understand that within a system, you can only ever see one POV. Until you can zoom out and understand the feedback loops driving the whole system, you don’t really have the tools to fix it. You just have stupid back & forth arguments about how to fix a single part.

Anyway, this is my attempt at explaining stuff that I’ve been arguing about on social media (ineffectively). Trump has a point. That doesn’t make him a good man, a good leader or America’s saviour. But there are imbalances in the global trading system that can only be corrected through a crash, a serious renegotiation among trading nations or a unilateral re-organisation by the biggest economy in the world (with all the risks that entails):
