I'm breaking my own new rule by hopping on here to post this, but I wanted to share something that's been working well for me to reduce my social media usage:

I decided to limit my social media use to 1 day per week. I chose Friday for reasons that have to do with my schedule; you could choose whichever day works best for you.

Now when I get the urge to hop on Reddit or whatever, I ask myself, “is it Friday?”

If the answer is “no,” then I don't open Reddit.

It's like a flowchart with only one stop.

(Additionally, I changed my Substack default page so that it shows me my Inbox instead of Notes when I open the app. I'm reading a lot more articles now and cutting down on the endless scroll! I've been restacking articles of interest, and browsing Notes a little less.)
