I relate deeply to this Anya Kamenetz lament. My kids still share a bedroom even though we moved out of the city four years ago and space isn’t the constraint it was in Brooklyn. But they’ve decided they want their own rooms soon and it feels like a signpost, and a minor tragedy.

with the demise of bedtime I am, quite concretely, getting hours back in my week. But I'm not sure I want or can handle even more intensity. What is time for? Could there ever be a better use of an hour than reading Robin Hood or Anne of Green Gables and snuggling with a freshly shampooed darling who is your whole world?
