I’m serious, this sentiment needs to be more mainstream in the States.
In the US, one seems to approach love with a bit more hesitation and a belief that it takes travels/living together/seeing how others behave in every possible situation to be sure it is the “one”. But can one ever be so sure?
While in many Asian cultures, you fall a bit more quickly, commit to an instinct, and gamble the rest.
There is a term in Chinese known as 门当户对(and maybe similar in Indian arranged marriages), where both parties are generally equal in terms of social status, and that gets you 80% there. If you think about it, when we talk about meeting the like-minded, the friends of friends, and the one with shared interests like travel (when majority of the world cannot afford to travel), isn’t that saying the same thing?
I do believe, love is a willing decision. Once committed, we shape our world in a way that ensures good result.
