I was reading something on Substack about the Lord’s Prayer and it got me thinking.
How many translations it’s gone through? Aramaic… to Greek… to other languages… and then to English.
So I got curious, as I tend to do, and I asked AI to give me a devotional version inspired by the original Aramaic.
This isn’t a word-for-word translation, but something to sit with. And honestly… I kinda love it.
Here’s what it gave me ☕️
The Lord’s Prayer — Devotional Expansion (Aramaic-Inspired)
O breathing life of all existence, Source of all that is, seen and unseen, You who dwell within and beyond all things, in the realm of light from which all life flows…
May Your name be honored and experienced as sacred, not just spoken, but lived and revealed through us.
May Your kingdom come—Your way of love, justice, and wholeness—breaking through into this world.
May Your will be done, in this world of form, just as it is in the unseen realm of perfect harmony.
Give us today what we need to live and to grow—nourishment for our bodies, wisdom for our minds, and peace for our souls.
Release us from the weight of our mistakes and failures, as we choose to release others from the burdens they have placed on us.
Guide us away from the paths that pull us off course, and strengthen us when we are tested, so we do not lose our way.
Rescue us from what binds and diminishes us, from fear, from illusion, from anything that keeps us from You.
For the power, the presence, and the glory are Yours—flowing through all things, now and forever.
Amen.
There’s something about hearing familiar words in a new way that makes you slow down and actually listen.
I think I needed this today.
