The brilliant David Simon, creator of “THE WIRE” and slayer of online trolls, was interviewed by Ari Shapiro of NPR last year. Shapiro did his best to play up the game-changing value of generative AI to writers, clearly having already downed several yummy cups of the Kool-Aid that tech companies have been serving up. Simon wasn’t having it and gave one of my favorite responses to a question about AI and screenwriting.
