For decades in Alberta, oil and gas companies have screwed over municipalities, failed to pay their taxes, and abandoned old oil wells that have left farmland unusable. Despite all of that, the government has repeatedly failed to enforce the law or hold many of them to a reasonable standard.

But I'm sure it'll be totally different with these AI data centres. Mark Zuckerberg is a stand-up guy. A real man of the people. Nobody has anything to worry about.
