I briefly considered writing a “regular” Gift Guide this year recommending all my favorite zines, but there was something about the idea that just didn’t feel right.

Then I realized that you could conceivably give someone a big pile of free zines and they would never need to know you weren’t able to spend money on them. Add a willingness to exploit an office copier and you could also give the gift at no cost.

Now that was the kind of Gift Guide I wanted to add to an already Gift Guide-weary world.

This guide is for:

• the family/friends for whom you can’t buy extra gifts

• the office White Elephant gift exchange

• stuffing stockings (mini zines recommended)

• supplemental gifts for cool people

• free tiny libraries

• co-workers who give out little holiday gifts

• adding to holiday cards
