🚨 New Old English glossed readings, worksheets, and a wee glossed Latin epigram are all coming Friday, May 15!

Another month, another set of worksheets. This month and next, we’re reading Ælfric of Eynsham’s Passion of St. Edmund, King and Martyr—a particularly exciting and action-packed text relative to some of the other material we’ve translated over the past year and a half. As a bonus, Latin enthusiasts will have a short Latin epigram on King Cnut to translate, fully glossed, just as its author, Godfrey of Winchester, would have no doubt appreciated!

The historical blog post offering context to this month’s readings is all about what we know about King Edmund as a historical king. Spoiler alert: it isn’t much, though we have a few references in the Chronicle to fall back on and some interesting numismatic evidence.

As always, I really enjoy producing these PDFs so hopefully subscribers delight in them equally and derive benefit from them in their various language learning journeys! ❤️
