Decided I’m going to jump on the tag wagon and make my own note: name an influential work (novel, short story, poem, show, or film) which has influenced your writing.

For me, Algernon Blackwood’s The Wendigo remains a standard of weird fiction. The setting amidst vast Canadian wilderness, a creative recasting of old lore, stellar pacing, and Blackwood’s use of suggestion to leave the reader’s imagination to form unsettling conclusions remain a masterclass in horror storytelling. I first came upon it in adapted form in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and was subsequently hooked on Blackwood’s rich catalog.
