Mattias Desmet, the Belgian professor of clinical psychology, identified the mechanism he terms mass formation psychosis, though I prefer the older term the lemming mechanism for its visceral clarity. When meaning collapses under materialist pressure, humans experience free-floating anxiety, a pervasive sense of dread with no object to attach itself to. The masses desperately seek something, anything, to fasten this anxiety upon. A charismatic leader or movement provides the object of collective obsession, and the masses attach their free-floating fear to it with religious intensity. The result resembles hypnotic entrancement. Dissidents become scapegoats, Lucifer figures whose very existence threatens to break the spell. The hypnotized subject does not merely disagree with the dissident but hates him with pure, un adulterated rage. This explains why leftists respond to disagreement not with counterarguments but with screaming, violence, and demands for censorship.

Consumer capitalism and leftist ideology converge on a single point: both require you passive. The algorithm feeds you content tailored to keep you scrolling, clicking, purchasing. The state provides benefits tailored to keep you dependent, compliant, grateful. Both systems treat agency as a threat to their operation. Genesis commands man to subdue and have dominion, to exercise creative sovereignty over creation. Agency is your divine inheritance, the image of God stamped into your being. Materialism makes you cattle, and cattle do not argue with the rancher. I encourage you to treat your own mind as a child deserving protection from the memetic viruses of materialism. The patriarchal instinct is the ordering principle that says no to entropy. A father protects his children from lies, predators, and corruption. Reclaiming that instinct means treating your own consciousness as territory to be defended with the same ferocity a father defends his household.

Consider the etymological shift that marks the reduction of man from divine actor to economic unit. Person derives from the Latin persona, the mask through which the actor speaks in the theater. The word implies role, purpose, a cosmic part to play in the divine drama. A person has dimensions of depth extending toward infinity. Individual derives from the Latin individuus, meaning undivided unit. An individual is merely an atom, an interchangeable component in an economic machine. The shift from person to individual marks the transition from a civilization that understood man as a spiritual being with eternal significance to one that treats man as a consumption unit whose only purpose is to work, spend, and die. The leftist project accelerates this reduction by denying even the biological reality of sexual difference, reducing persons to their willing or unwilling participation in ideological categories.

The French Revolution demonstrated with bloody clarity where materialist logic terminates. The Jacobins rejected God, the soul, and tradition. They enthroned the Goddess of Reason in Notre Dame Cathedral. They implemented the Reign of Terror to purge society of enemies of the revolution. When man has no soul, he has no inherent dignity. Power remains the only currency. If there is no transcendent truth, then silencing opponents is not censorship but liberation from false consciousness. The guillotine became the sacrament of the new order. The revolution devoured its own children in an escalating spiral of purges. Robespierre, the architect of the Terror, himself fell to the blade. Materialism has no mechanism to restrain violence because it recognizes no authority beyond the will to power. The twentieth century confirmed the pattern in Soviet Russia, Maoist China, and Khmer Rouge Cambodia. The body count of atheist regimes dwarfs all religious wars in human history combined.

I urge you to build an interior castle in the tradition of Saint Teresa of Avila. The possessed man has open doors, unguarded windows, and a welcome mat for every invading ideology. The redpilled man has a drawbridge, guards, and a garrison. Every syllogism you master is a brick in the wall. Every etymology you learn is a weapon in the armory.
