My five good things in life:
My wife, when I can get her to myself
A perfect Manhattan (that means both kinds of vermouth), up, in a stemmed glass
The Velvet Underground, best of all the live bootlegs
Reading an excellent book, especially discovering that a reputed classic deserves its reputation, or rediscovering an old favorite
A Catholic church or Eucharistic chapel, when it is quiet, ideally with dimmed lights, and Our Lord in a monstrance
Thanks Zanz! And no such thing as being too based to not enjoy at least five good things in life. Here are mine:
C.S. Lewis: there are few thinkers who have had as much of an impact on the trajectory of my life as him
Really really dry ginger beer: I'm talking the fever tree mixers here, none of that Vernor's stuff, though I acknowledge it…
