Though I disagree with Marc on many things big and small, including this point about introspection, he’s one of the biggest and most eclectic readers I know, and introduced me to several pretty obscure books. Opposite of airport bestseller type reader (one of the few things we’ve agreed on in recent years is that Sapiens sucks and Harari is overrated). He’s also not part of the PayPal mafia, just friends with them.
The introspection thing is a mix of “true for him” (really, he’s like this; it’s not a bit) and doing his usual combative provocation thing. And it’s not a new attitude for him or anything to do with his redpill turn. He was this way 12 years ago when he was a basic left-liberaltarian and I was working with him. He made fun of me quite a bit precisely for being introspective.
'“guilt and introspection were invented by sigmund freud in 1915” is the kind of thing you can only say if you haven't read a single book that's not from the airport pharmacy in your life
