This isn’t a one-off. FDA lost ~3,900 staff in 2025, USDA’s meat/poultry/egg inspection arm (FSIS) lost ~9% of its workforce, and consumer complaints about meat/poultry/egg safety jumped nearly 40% last year. Gutted the inspectors, then acted surprised when the eggs show up contaminated.
