On the afternoon of April 24, 2022, the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) Alumni Association in Chicago held a meet-and-greet event for alumni running for state legislature in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago. More than 30 USTC alumni from the Chicago area, along with some other local guests, attended the event in person, while others watched the live broadcast via Zoom.

Lin Jing, president of the USTC Alumni Association, presided over the event. At the beginning of the session, she introduced the two alumni candidates:

• Zeng Jianning, a candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 9A. He enrolled in USTC’s Department of Physics in 1993, graduated in 1998, and went to the University of Maryland in the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a Ph.D. He is currently working as a software engineer in Maryland.

• Zhao Yukong, a candidate for the Florida House of Representatives in District 45 in 2022. He enrolled in USTC’s Department of Modern Physics in 1980. After graduation, he worked for 8 years at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1992, he came to the U.S., earned an MBA from the University of Florida, and later worked at Siemens USA, eventually serving as the Global Marketing Director for Siemens.

2022年4月24日下午，美国芝加哥中国科技大学校友会在芝加哥西北郊举行校友参选州议员见面会，30多位芝加哥的中科大校友，以及部分芝加哥其他来宾现场参加了见面会，部分未到现场的人士观看Zoom现场直播。芝加哥中科大校友会会长林菁主持了见面会，她在活动开始向来宾介绍两位参选人：马里兰州9A区的众议员参选人曾键宁（1993年考入中国科技大学物理系，98年毕业后于次年到美国马里兰州大学攻读博士，现在马里兰从事软件工程师工作）和2022年佛罗里达州第45区议员参选人赵宇空（1980 年考入中科大近代物理系，毕业后在中国科学院工作8年，92年来美国，在佛州大学获得工商管理硕士后任职于美国西门子公司，一直做到西门子公司的全球市场总监。）。
