In what universe can all sorts of other states redistrict without the voter’s consent, but Virginia can’t?

The reason the law is supposed to be impartial is not to avoid political judges. Every person is going to be inherently biased.

The point of having impartial judges is so there is consistency across the law. You rule based on what is written down, not based on what you believe. You match the situation to the law, not twist the law to match your situation.

Statistics is a great example of this. There is only ONE correct interpretation of statistical results and impartial statisticians will all come to the exact same interpretation.

However, if you let people believe that “stats can mean anything”, then no one ever finds any agreement.

We can’t be a nation of laws if the law is different for everyone.

Virginia is not out. They just have to adjust the procedural issues. And if it wasn't abundantly clear before, it is now: Democrats have to take the gloves off. Beat the Republicans at their own dirty game. They don't have the people behind them. We do. Fighting to preserve our democracy means fucking FIGHTING.
