The app for independent voices

When Jamie Ember was in high school, she did a summer internship with Paramount’s then head of casting, Terri Taylor, and realized that instead of becoming an actor, which she’d long dreamed about, casting was her true calling. Over the years she’s worked with some of Hollywood’s leading casting directors, and her years of hard work has paid off. This month alone, three of the movies she’s cast had their premieres: the Colleen Hoover drama “Reminders of Him,” the Lauren Noll comedy “Same Same But Different,” and the Russell Goldman thriller “Sender,” starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Rhea Seehorn.

Ember spoke with me about social media for actors, the pros and cons of today’s self-tape audition process, and her advice to those aspiring to work in casting.

In this teaser, she discusses the fun process of auditioning kids for the Rob Lowe comedy "The Musical."
