Back in 2024, I had the pleasure to chatting with Jocelyn Mackenzie. If you’re not familiar with her work, she’s an uber-prolific creator who makes music, directs videos, composes musicals, styles photo shoots, designs album covers, and interacts with the dead, among other things.
As exemplified by her work with her former band, Pearl and the Beard, her solo albums, her visual art, her contributions to the pre-Broadway musical Rutka, and her intuitive readings as a psychic medium, it’s clear that there’s not much creatively that Jocelyn can’t do.
We chatted over Zoom for an hour about all the things and in this clip, you can hear how the songs she doesn’t like can be just as influential as those she enjoys.
