So while my Substack account is on restrictions for the next 16 days which began last week, I have decided to have fun with some novels.
My hand landed on this brilliant Nigerian 🇳🇬 author's book, “Second Class Citizen.”
~Buchi Emecheta
I enjoyed this book and decided to read another book of hers, “The Joy of Motherhood.”
Now, let's focus on the second class citizen.
There is a character in this story called Francis.
Damn!! To be honest, this guy pissed up more than 10x while reading the book.
The brother is failing an exam over and over again. Bro. Is refusing to work and living on Ada his wife's income. On top of it, he is abusive and violent. He beats her badly and has sex at his will and pleasure.
What a disgrace to the brotherhood and humanity!!!??
I love how his fellow Igbo brother handles him. Slap the harsh truth in his face which obliged him to start a postman Job. On this job, the brother was complaining and even refusing to give enough money to his wife who had just given birth to his child. Gosh!!!
This story somehow sounds true. Like some real-life events of the author herself. If it is actually a real life events, then I pity the lady a lot.
Have you read this story before?
What are your annoying chapter (s), because I know anyone who reads this must have an annoying moment.
