Human-AI teaming is here for the Infantryman.

After completing his time as a platoon commander, Capt Ryan Helm recognized that modern technology could answer MCDP 1-3’s call to achieve a decision and be faster.

While at the Naval Postgraduate School, he designed ARES—Augmented Reconnaissance and Estimate of the Situation.

ARES takes care …

and I are not siblings - but we did team up to write a piece on naval defense tech. We pulled data to see how hard it is to win the Navy as a paying customer, especially for startups. What we found… is striking. Check it out:

New blog post from Austin and me on why it is so hard for startups to sell to the Navy (link in comments). Despite this year’s intense operational tempo and the Navy’s public push toward unmanned systems, the data tells a different story: startups are still struggling to break into naval programs.

So, is the Navy really the least innovati…

I had a child “diagnosed” with ADHD several years ago. The immediate reaction of the people involved was to prescribe drugs.

We refused.

Absolutely under no circumstances were we going to let our pre-pubescent child take amphetamines which is what these ADHD drugs are.

More generally, I found the diagnosis process shoddy, the availability of resources for my child (tutors, executive function help etc) to be scattered and expensive and the desire of the school to “solve” the problem lazy and reduct…

Neglecting Africa is a strategic stupidity.

Reports suggest that the Trump team is considering an executive order to gut the State Department’s presence and programming in Africa—eliminating entire bureaus, offices, and functions.

At first glance, this may seem aligned with a strategic pivot toward the IndoPacific and a focus on securing …

I like your point that people likely do not care about this information. When people are not aware of easily obtainable information, we should probably conclude that they don't see the value in that information. So many information campaigns fail because they try to provide people with information that is already available, rather than making people care!
