The CEO of OpenAI just admitted that social media algorithms exploit your child's brain.

Not a worried parent. Not a child safety campaigner. Sam Altman. The man building the most powerful AI in human history. On his own blog.

I've spent years saying this in schools, parent evenings, and safeguarding rooms. I've watched people shift in their seats. I've seen the polite smiles that mean "yes but surely it's not that serious."

It is that serious.

Altman's own words: social media feeds are "misaligned AI" that exploit something in your brain to override what you actually want for yourself. He's not describing a bug. He's describing the entire business model.

And then, in the same post, he talks about scaling AI faster and bigger than anything humanity has ever built.

Read that again.

He knows what the algorithm does. He's told you himself. And the answer from the industry is: more.

This is not ignorance. This is a choice.

So the next time someone tells you that screen time concerns are exaggerated, that parents are catastrophising, that the platforms are doing enough, you point them to the CEO of OpenAI's own blog.

He said it. Not us.

Parents, teachers, safeguarding leads, you have been right all along. The harm is real, it is documented, and the people building these systems are not confused about it.

They just keep building.
