Make money doing the work you believe in
This article started with one interesting comment I heard during a recent technical discussion with professionals in the memory industry.
“Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron, the three major memory companies, are actively evaluating whether MicroLED technology can be adopted.”
To be honest, even while writing several articles on optical technologies, I had not paid much attention to MicroLED.
But after doing a deeper round of research, I found several points that were much more interesting than I expected. In particular, I was able to better understand why memory companies are looking into this technology, and how MicroLED could become more than just a display technology. It could potentially become another candidate for solving AI infrastructure and memory bottlenecks.
In this article, I explain the basic structure of MicroLED technology, how it differs from existing laser based optical technologies, why memory companies are evaluating it, and what investment insights can be drawn from this still under analyzed area.
For those looking for new alpha in the memory and optics themes, I highly recommend reading this article.
