Welcome to the Substack home of dampedspring.com. My name is Andy Constan. I have been a market maker, proprietary trader, hedge fund manager, macro researcher and strategist for 38 years.

My mission for this substack and for all of my content outlets is to pay forward my learnings over my career to anyone interested.

My learnings have allowed me to build an approach to understanding markets and making wise investment decisions which have been successful for me over time. Investing is not about being right all the time it’s about earning a satisfactory risk adjusted return.

I achieve my mission for dampedspring by working tirelessly (essentially all the time when I am not sleeping) to develop my framework and to deeply assess what is happening in the world today and what it means for investors.

I send my thoughts out to the world via different platforms.

My most accessible work is via my Twitter feed @dampedspring. It is free and messy and spammy and fun.

I also offer membership in DS Read, DS Alpha, and DS Institutional for those who want to join me and more deeply explore markets and investment strategy. The Mission for DS Read and DS Alpha is to meet each member on their personal learning curve and in a high touch way accelerate their progress to be come a better more informed investor with improved critical thinking capability.

My business partner and good friend and I also offer a low touch membership to 2graybeards.com. Our mission is to provide timely succinct analysis of what happened in markets and the economy last week and what is likely to happen in the coming week. We deliver 20 Minute pithy videos every weekend that an investor with limited time and background can watch and over time they can compound their learnings so as to have better conversations with their financial advisors. 2graybeards members should after a year get much more value from conversations with their financial advisors. The advisor may be receiving 6 figure fees and the 2graybeards members should be able to actually understand the advisors ideas.

With all these content outlets one may ask why a substack? What will I get here?

Well firstly my substack will always be free. The content on this substack will expand and make more accessible the content I already provide on my free Twitter feed. I find the Twitter content creation process limiting. So I expect this will be a better place to provide long form content.

On the other hand I won’t be providing content that is only available to my Damped Spring and 2Graybeards members as that content has my most valuable insights and deepest research work. Feel free to go to public archives on either of the links above to see all member content on a delayed basis to see if this content is of interest.

This substack is about free content that expands and improves my dampedspring twitter feed content and hopefully highlights my most valuable free content. I hope you enjoy what I produce and subscribe.
