I’ve always had mixed emotions about the connection between Amazon and Whole Foods, but I did link my Prime account to Whole Foods.
Now, when I buy something from Amazon, I have to pass through a page from Whole Foods to get to check out. The other day, I wasn’t feeling great, so I decided to go ahead and try it. It actually worked great, and I was very pleased with the results.
Today, when I bought something from Amazon, I got the page and was poking around, and I realized, every item on that list is something I regularly buy from Whole Foods. And, weirdly, the prices of those same items in a couple of cases were less than what they’d been at the store when I’d gone just the other day.
There’s a part of me that’s really weirded out by this, mostly because I don’t like the level of data companies have on me. But I know they’ve been collecting it for years, and I know that I technically agreed to it.
On the other hand, it would be really convenient to not have to go grocery shopping and have it all come to my door more regularly with very little effort.
And that, my friends, is the trade off for convenient modern life.
