I believe many people are nervous about expressing their full electoral opinion, and to them I would say: do it with nerve, verve, and moxie. Ultimately, still be kind to your fellow voters. The majority of people want to know what you think, and are OK either way as long as you’re honest, sincere, and courteous to them as readers.
I want to live in a city where I know what people think, on their own terms, unmediated by others, even if we disagree.
I’ll be writing a follow-up post discussing the responses I’ve gotten to this piece, and how I think about them. But I would like to thank everyone who’s commented, especially the most critical of them.
I will also be publishing a roundup of voter guides from around the city, many of which are different from mine.
