I wrote this back in 2022, but it’s only now, thanks to a wave of ’90s nostalgia, that it’s resonating.

Later this week, I’m publishing a piece about a guidebook called “Naples in the ’90s”… the 1890s, that is. It’s fascinating to see how the transformations brought by the Industrial Revolution mirror those of the digital revolution. In neither case did people recognize the scale of change as it was happening.
