Here I am in front of Thomas Paine’s home, Bull House in Lewes, UK. He lived here from 1768-1774 while working on the radical Junius letters with the 3rd Duke of Richmond and other writers (Edmund Burke, for one). These were like the Federalist papers, but two decades earlier and an aggressive attack on the King in addition to constitutional theory. I got to give the keynote for a conference celebrating the 250th anniversary of CommonSense! There’s a beautiful little museum here now!
