The delay in interoception from eating and the chaos in reward response all feed into this unpredictable loop where I don’t just eat to numb but to register that I’m even here. Add body dysmorphia to the mix and it becomes a brutal cycle: I binge to stabilise, then punish myself for the body that results. It’s not just a habit. It’s a coping mechanism that reinforces its necessity.
