today I met a young woman, newly graduated with a double masters in environmental studies and global policy. She is off to save the world and already has several job offers.

I know she is very earnest. She is also completely brainwashed.

I tried to talk some sense into her, but she would have none of it (already too much invested in this career path).

I'm older, so it's easier for me to recognize the nonsense. At least, I think that's the reason. Or maybe it's just some intact critical thinking skills which I continually reality test and cross my fingers about.
