i’m not a good enough writer to be giving too much advice, but this idea completely transformed my approach to storytelling:
rather than "A happened, then B, then C," try thinking of your story as a series of hooks and payoffs - little bits of unresolved conflict/intrigue that pull your reader to the next paragraph, then the next, and so on.
doing this successfully gives your reader a sense of being swept along, like 'woah, i didn't even realize i read all that.'
