So when I wrote in my last newsletter that my subscriber count was “approximately twos of thousands,” I was leaning pretty hard on the word “approximately” because I wasn’t quite up to 2,000 just yet. But as of today I now OFFICIALLY have twos of thousands of subscribers and I’m so happy about it! I love picturing everyone crammed into one big room, probably arguing about feminism.
If you’re not a subscriber, there’s still time to fix that! About me: I’m a professor of psychology and neuroscience at the University of Southern California. My lab studies the neurobiology of the transition to parenthood. I wrote a book about the transformations of fatherhood, called Dad Brain: The New Science of Fatherhood and How it Shapes Men’s Lives. I also have two teenagers of my own, one of whom secretly trolled me on Substack for several weeks. Writing on Substack is my new favorite hobby because it combines all the things I enjoy (procrastination; arguing with strangers; nerd rabbit-hole deep dives; learning new stuff; recommending music; making friends) into one addictive little digital ball.
