The app for independent voices

I thought about it some more, and I'd like to come onto your show to just have a friendly chat and dialogue. As I alluded to, I don't do oral debates. I debate in writing, and have done so (back-and-forth exchanges) well over a thousand times in 30 years online. I think I could probably hold my own in an oral debate, if I ever did it (mostly I oppose it for reasons of format, approach, and its inferiority to written debates), but I wouldn't be anywhere near as skilled as I am in written debate, through literally 45 years' practice.

But it would be fun to just talk back-and-forth, like if we met in a bar or at a party somewhere and struck up a theological conversation. I would enjoy that, as long as it is *understood* what it is we're setting out to do from the outset.

But one thing I am very strict about is sticking to the topic. The present topic is sola Scriptura, I'm not gonna sit there and watch the topic move over to Catholicism and the Marian doctrines, etc., as Protestants so often try to do in this discussion. The topic would be sola Scriptura: you defending and me critiquing. We critiqued on our channel three Protestants (Ortlund, Cooper, Horton) doing exactly this: supposedly talking about sola Scriptura, when in fact virtually all they did was rant about Catholic doctrines, at least 90% of the time. That simply wasn't defending Sola Scriptura, and we called 'em on it.

I think that would be worthwhile for both of our audiences. We can always use more good and constructive intercommunication between Christians, if for no other reason than to understand each other better, and we have made a good start in writing.

I had a question: just for reference, what particular type of Anglican are you? Are you in one of the smaller break-off groups?

Wishing you and yours a blessed Holy Week.

Thanks for your comment, Dave. It would take a long time for me to answer each of these in a post. How about this--I've appreciated the time you take to engage these issues, and I think it would be worthwhile to just come on my channel and dialogue. What do you think?
