Hey Substack why can’t I paste in a poem from Word, LibreOffice or any other text editor without my lines getting screwed up? Your poetry block doesn’t help with this most commonly asked-for feature from my poet friends. WordPress, which has a similarly useless poetry block, does still give us the option of composing in HTML, which preserves lines and stanza breaks. Interpreting every hard return as a paragraph break is a non-starter for poets, besides being poor web semantics.
