I just saw a new feature that Instagram added to Reels settings. It’s called auto scroll, and it represents the complete disintegration of engagement on that platform.
What little bit of interaction you may have gotten from people will soon disappear as people begin to enable this setting.
It allowed users to no longer need to swipe to the next video themselves—hands off completely. This also means less clicking for ♥️, fewer comments, and far less sharing of your videos.
Why would anyone do any of those things now when the app allows them to not lift a finger but get completely immersed in the visual experience.
Oh, and View Full Screen completely takes away the interactive buttons, because who needs that getting in the way of their feed gluttony?
There are many reasons why I’ve basically abandoned the platform, but this is definitely the cherry on top.
