So true. Jill Bolte Taylor’s 90-Second Rule - emotions cycle through in 90 seconds if we don’t feed them with narrative. The feeling itself is brief. It’s the story we tell about it that keeps us stuck.
One of the most underrated skills is letting a feeling be there without making it mean anything.
Sadness shows up, it does not mean your life is broken.
Anxiety shows up, it does not mean you are unsafe.
Anger shows up, it does not mean you are a bad person.
A feeling is a feeling.
The story is optional.
