Why feedback doesn’t work the way we think.
teachers know from long experience that feedback doesn’t always make the difference it should. If you’ve ever found yourself writing the same comment on the same student’s work for the third time in a term, you’ve probably wondered what the point is. We’ve all felt the frustration of seeing yesterday’s carefully explained correction vanish in the very next lesson. We’ve all experienced the empty ritual of giving out carefully crafted targets which are then ignored the moment students work independently.
