I think we are moving away from the era of social media and into an era of online micro-communities. More intentional, less chaos. Smaller, but more valuable. More boundaries, more containment.

We were never made to read the unhinged thoughts of hundreds of strangers each day, but we were made to gather around fires with groups and share our stories.

If you are a young man (or women) who feels like their life is going nowhere, this is the article for you! This may be the most important thing I’ve ever written.

I was browsing a bookstore a few years back when I randomly struck up a conversation with a woman. She asked what I did for a living. I told her I’m a middle grade author.

Her eyes lit up. “Are your books here? I’ll get one for my daughter!”

So we went looking for my name on the shelves. And they actually had a few, which isn’t always the case. I handed one to her.

“Let’s see if they have a pen up front!” she said excitedly. “You can sign it!”

Well, by now, I was feeling like a celebrity.

Respectfully I’d rather read about the life cycle of mollusks than another essay on what someone learned from taking a social media break

it's crazy though because when you do start "finding who you are" most of the time you just go back to your childhood & realizing who you've always been.

I learned today from the ‘You’re wrong about ADHD’ podcast that the Māori word for ADHD is aroreretini which means attention goes to many things and that the word for autism is takiwātanga meaning in their or my own time and space.

How beautiful are they? No disorder, no pathology, no judgement, just description.

I'm a medical doctor, but I had to leave the system to tell the truth.

Most of what you’re told about your health is incomplete or completely wrong.

You’re stuck in a system that profits from your symptoms, not your healing.

In my Substack, I write the truth I wasn’t allowed to say inside the system.

If you're exhausted, unwell, and unheard, say hi! 🙌

For the love of all things holy, this is EXACTLY what is aggravating me about Biden’s election campaign. One is not being MEAN if one is observing FACTS. Just because opposing party doesn’t accept facts, or whines about meanness doesn’t make it so. Nearly every thing they spout is a lie to begin with! The latest report on drugs in the White House is eye popping. My hair would be on fire but it’s long gone. Now it’s my poor eyes. I may not make it to the end of this saga.

EXACTLY, Carla.
