I admire JK Rowling enormously. Why? Because having attained professional success and wealth beyond the imagination of most of us, she could have taken the easy option and kept her head down. Instead, she put herself on the frontline to defend her fellow women, knowing that she would become a hate figure in the eyes of many. That takes guts and principles. Great comment Marion. As for me I refrain from even speaking to zealots who supported the infection control measures as I know that my fury will gradually get the better of me. As for anyone still wearing a mask, of which there are many here in Japan, I coldly inform them that my hearing is not good so it's pointless for them to try speaking to me through a mask.
