We all know that moment of making an announcement. Sitting at the table with friends and family and you are announcing your next big step. You will quit and start a business. You will quit drinking alcohol. You will quit smoking. Everyone is cheering for you, and you have those shiny eyes and a big smile, feeling the moment of accomplishment and victory.

But in reality, you do not even have a business idea. You do not know what it feels like to live without alcohol after years of being numbed. And after this announcement, you light a cigarette immediately because otherwise you cannot handle the stress of the moment, and you are already stressed again just thinking about not making it through the next week. But now the expectations are high. Everyone knows your big plan. So you stress even more, and you need that smoke and that drink even more than before.

Next time, if you have a plan, just start doing it without telling anyone. Gain experience, build confidence, and when you have results you can tell your people about it, although you do not have to tell them at all.

Stop talking about what you’re going to do.

Anyone can make plans, but only a few people actually follow through.

Your words don’t matter without action.

Let your results speak for you.
