I love running because it helps me not forget important things about life.
In the photos, you can see me smiling in nice, sunny weather. But when I was at home and looked out the window, the situation looked very different. It was dark, unusually strong wind was blowing, and it was raining. Naturally, my first thought was that I didn’t want to go out. Fortunately, in recent years I’ve learned to deal with these situations, so I laced up my shoes, put on my jacket, and went out. During the first kilometer, I was sure it would be a very hard interval session in that weather. The wind was pushing against me from the side, and I had to fight through it.
But after that first kilometer, the rain stopped, the wind slowed down, and the sun came out. The rest of the session was really enjoyable. I appreciated the recovery minutes between the sprints, and in the end, I completed my training.
This situation often happens in life. We imagine dark and rainy weather in our minds before we start and believe it will be terrible. But when we take action despite those thoughts, things often turn out much better.
The lesson is that our thoughts shouldn’t hold us back, because often the sun is waiting behind them.
Don’t give up!
